Magic Crawfish

Magic Crawfish was formed in October 2015 by four classically-trained percussionists who met as students in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s music program. Since 2016, the band has performed their highly energetic, rhythmic, and eclectic rock music at over 45 venues and festivals throughout the Gulf Coast, including the Cajundome, the Cajun Heartland State Fair, Varsity Theatre, Rock n’ Bowl de Lafayette, and collegiate festivals at UL Lafayette and Nicholls State University.

In 2016, Magic Crawfish released their first debut single: a piano-driven rock ballad titled “As of Right Now.” Two years later, their self-produced debut album "Second Friday” was released. Drawing upon each member’s unique backgrounds in rock, blues, classical, jazz, and metal, this album introduced a unique recipe with subtle flavors of alternative rock, indie rock, math rock, blues, funk, and more.

Since then, the band has released three singles titled “Solstice,” “Ampers&,” and “All Up!” Unforgettable melodies paired with vigorous, carefully-orchestrated instrumentals are the core of these energizing, pop-tinged anthems. This new taste of the band’s “spicy, boiling-hot rock music” highlights the continuous evolution of their ever-so-diverse but ever-so-recognizable sound. It was during this time that the band welcomed a fifth member, Justin Peltier, who helped the band elevate their live performances as a guitarist and vocalist.

In 2025, after Peltier moved out of the state, Magic Crawfish welcomed yet another classically-trained percussionist, David Crochet, as a new guitarist and vocalist. With this addition, the band continues to transform intimate and large venues alike into exciting, interactive, and dynamic live performance environments. In the Spring of 2026, the band will release a sophomore record that was produced at UP/DOWN Studios, owned and operated by Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October in San Marcos, TX.
